Uni clearing advice pls!

Hi. So I am currently a first year student at BCU, but wanted to switch courses as well as university recently. So l applied through clearing to Aston university today, and was accepted (haven't accepted the offer yet). I was just wondering what should I do from here/ what do I do.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you decide to accept it, you then need to tell BCU you will not be enrolling for Year 2, and also tell Student Finance asap.

Congratulations on your offer 🙂 You can accept the offer via your UCAS track

Hi. Thanks for that! But I didn’t tell Aston that I’m currently at Bcu but I didn’t think it mattered? Will that affect anything ?

Hey @M1.vrss 👋

Congratulations on receiving an offer at your chosen university after deciding to make a switch.

Have you spoke with Aston University directly over the phone? If not, you may wish to do so and they will be able to give you specific and tailored advice on your next steps.

Best of luck in your new chapter!

Hi. Will Aston care that I didn’t inform them that I’m currently at Bcu?

Good advice above too, ensure you have contacted student finance with the update of your switch from your previous University

Hi. I spoke to Aston over the phone when I got the offer, but I didn’t tell them I was at Bcu currently and just finished first year. But I’m nervous this might affect it now

You must tell them.
Unless you declare this, its fraud - something Unis take seriously.
However, unless your Year 1 results at BCU were dire they wont care - at best they will ask for a reference from BCU just to confirm you are not an axe-murderer.

Looks like you’ve got some advice on enrollment. It’s important you understand the student finance implications, typically SFE will fund length of course + 1 year and if you move again/ resit a year you would likely have to cover some of the degree. You probably would be ok as long as you progress normally from here on out, but it’s important you understand this.

You must declare all qualifications, this is vital.

Hi again!

I'd recommend re-calling them and letting them know this just to be sure that it won't cause an issue. Let us know how you get on!

Would I have to call the clearing line again?

This is probably the easiest method

If you leave after the first year (completing the first year successfully) you get a HNC (Higher National Certificate) - this is a qualification.

It is a qualification in progress, and one you’ve attempted.

In the same way you also must declare all failed qualifications as well. These are the rules and have been in place for decades. Typically it’s not an issue (and if you declare it and they don’t care then great) but their are some universities (for example Oxford & Cambridge) which as a matter of policy will not consider a candidate for undergraduate entry whilst enrolled at another institution.
