Just got results

Hi, I just my results back with an A in econ, A in history and B in maths, I’m really upset about the B, but I technically still got into my insurance at UCL, should I retake my maths because I’m afraid of regretting going to a course I’m not that passionate about or is it not worth it?

Those are very good results. Well done!

Are you saying you're not sure about going to your insurance? Since you already have an offer from your insurance, you can always look around in clearing for any courses you like. Call up the university and see if they give you a place.

Just please don't decline your insurance choice until you have confirmation from the university that they are able to give you a place.

It's not really worth resitting the mathematics grade, unless you really like a course that requires a higher grade.

Hi! @bright-eyed-paga !!

Huge congrats on your results; that’s really strong overall 🥳⭐️ UCL is an amazing university, you should be very proud of yourself!

I completely get being disappointed about the B in maths, but since you’ve technically got your place at UCL, it might be worth thinking about whether retaking will actually make you happier or more confident, vs just adding extra stress and time. Research if is possible to switch courses after you have tried it out. If you are confident you won't enjoy it, perhaps call UCL to ask about your options.

Retaking might give you an extra option, but it’s also a big commitment financially and mentally. Sometimes it’s better to start the course and see if you can make the most of it, especially if the B won’t prevent your entry or future opportunities. Employers typically don't ask for A-Level grades, rather your relevant experience!
