A level results day remark

Hi, I missed my Firm offer by a grade and my teachers thought it would be worth a remark as i wasn't too far off of the grade boundary for an A. How likely is the grade to go up, and how long could a priority remark take from WJEC as my Firm is willing to wait for the remark

Hi! @Aw!

I understand how stressful this can feel. A few things to know about priority remarks:

Likelihood of a grade change: It really depends on how close you were to the boundary and the clarity of your original marking. Being “just below” doesn’t guarantee a change, but it’s worth submitting if your teachers think it’s borderline. Some do go up, some stay the same, and very rarely, grades can go down.

Timeframe: Priority remarks are faster than standard ones, usually around 5 days to 2 weeks, but it can vary depending on WJEC’s workload. It’s great your firm is willing to wait!

It’s definitely worth doing if your teachers believe you were close. Fingers crossed it works out! ⭐️

Hi there! :hello:

There's some more info here from WJEC, in short it's within 15 calendar days if you request a priority review of marking: https://www.wjec.co.uk/home/administration/results-grade-boundaries-and-prs/post-results-services-and-appeals/#tab_0

In terms of probabilities, the most likely outcome is no change to your grade, though it's possible it will go up, though the mark (and grade) could also come down if they find errors within the marking that have actually gone in your favour.

You can also ask your school to request a copy of your exam script to check for any possible errors, though I can't immediately see the timescale for how long it would take to get them back, check and then send off for a priority review.
If your firm have said they'll wait for the outcome of a review of marking please make sure you get this in writing. The UCAS recommended date for this is 3rd September but universities are within their right to choose a different date by which point you need to meet your original offer conditions.
