Student Finance and Gap year

Originally I was going to university so I had both applied and completed the majority of the student finance sections.

However recently I have decided to take a gap year and my firm choice allowed me to defer a year, should I just cancel my student loan, or is there a way of changing this on the student finance website?

Hi there,

Yes, we'd recommend cancelling your application now.

If your course now begins next September or later you can make a 2026/27 application when these open next Spring.

Thanks, Graeme
