UEA Victory House

Got allocated victory house as my accommodation which was my fourth choice so kind of disappointed - can’t find anyone who has stayed here/ is staying here, would anyone be able to help with a general idea of what the accommodation is like in terms of kitchen and location and also in comparison to some of the other accoms (also is there a mirror in the bedroom area)

Hi! @SophiaReesx 🙂
I understand how frustrating it can be to not get your first choice accommodation, I hope the following will help remove any uncertainties about Victory house.

UEA have an accommodation finder which gives you more detail about each type of accommodation. Victory house is close to other accommodations (nelson court, Paston etc...) and is super close to the centre of campus. Depending on the flat you get, the kitchen is shared between 6-13 students. In terms of the mirror, I'm not sure if it's offered in the bedroom, but you definitely get one in the en-suit!

You can have a look here to see the general layout of the room, as well as further information: En Suite On-Campus Accommodation - UEA

I hope this helps! Do let me know if you have any further questions! 🙂

Hi Fatma, could you tell me if there are any accommodation pages or group chats to meet fellow flat mate? If so where could I find there/how do you join?

Also could you advise on laptops? I’m undecided between a MacBook or a standard laptop and have been advised to check with the uni as some unis don’t like Apple products as they aren’t always compatible with the unis choice of software. It is for a history degree so not sure if this is something I need to worry about so much? Thanks ☺️

Hello!! 🙂
Most people will use social media to find their flatmates before coming to uni. I believe Facebook is the most popular!

UEA uses the Microsoft packages, which should be fine with Apple products. Personally, I have an iPad and I haven't really had many issues with it. The only issues I had was that excel didn't really work well on my iPad, but I don't think you'd need that for history.
I have a HP laptop and it works quite well, so I'd say if you're tight on budget or you just want to, you don't have to get a MacBook! I'd imagine for history you mainly need to be able to use Word and a search engine, so one thing I'd do is just make sure you have enough storage! 🙂

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions!
Good luck with studying History!! 🙂

Hi @MaisieKeeble

I found my flats mates by posting on the UEA freshers group chat page on Facebook Book. If you search University of East Anglia (UEA) Freshers 2025 and then either write a post or search for your flat number, other students will usually have responded. Afterwards you can join group chats via WhatsApp there is usually one for each accommodation.

Hope that helps!
Good luck
