Retaking two out of three a-levels in uni while in university

I was thinking of transferring after first year to a better university but I have seen everywhere that when you're transferring your a-level grades mist match their grade requirements would it be unsensible to retake my maths a level and further maths while at uni to increase my chances of being transferred?

This is always, in whatever form, a silly idea. It may be debt, but university is expensive - don't spend money/build up debt on something you don't want to do.

If you don't want to do the course you've got a place on. then take a gap year. Resit A levels if that makes sense during the gap year and reapply for what you do want to do.

broadly, Universities don't want to enter the game of creating an alternative route of entry, by nabbing from other universities. It's admin and work for no real gain. So it won't be straightforward, you will face different hurdles and you won't have the same free and full choice you have applying from A levels or a gap year.

Pointless. You are likely to mess up one or the other, and possibly both. And many 'top' Unis will not accept transfers.

Either go to the Uni you have and enjoy it.
Or resit and reapply for 2026.

That was the plan initially but my parents are not allowing me to resit

Talk to your Head of Sixth or similar - they may be able to bring your parents round.

They're unlikely to come around can I decide to change my course and start as a first year in another university after my first year at my current university

Exceptionally unlikely - there is no reason for just repeating a first year, and why would any Uni accept you.
