Ual 1 year level 3 art and design foundation

Hi all, I have just finished A levels. I am considering taking this course during my gap year. Could people tell me about their experience. Does it include a wide variety of hands on practical arts based activities throughout the course? Or is it more heavily weighted on theoretical written content. I wanted to doing something that was fun, whilst increasing my UCAS points. Did people find it hard going? Any feedback would be welcome, so that I can decide if this is a good step forward. Thanks :-)

Hi there. I haven't finished my a levels yet but I'm thinking of doing what you're doing (taking the level 3 ual foundation course after my a levels) because I'm not taking an art related a level. So I'd be interested to know as well

Hello,
It's great to hear that you are considering a foundation with us at UAL.

The content of your course will depend on the type of foundation you choose. You could choose a diagnostic course which will allow you to explore a range of art and design pathways to help you make a decision for your undergraduate degree. The other option would be to choose a specialism foundation if you are already certain on what course you would like to do but just need more experience to build a portfolio before applying for your undergrad.

The courses will have a balance of practical and theoretical content as the undergrad will need a good understanding of both, as will your future career.

Check out our website for more information on our foundation and I wish you the best with your application.
