being kicked out/homeless before i move to uni

hi,
i am due to move to my university halls in 3 and a half weeks, but due to my home situation i am most likely going to end up homeless soon.
i don’t know what to do, i have nowhere to go and i don’t know whether i can move to uni early

It is unlikely that you will be able to move into university early, but you should contact the housing team at your university and explain the situation because they should at the very least be able to point you in the right direction. I hope this helps.

Really sorry to read about your situation. Best to contact the uni to find out if they can accommodate you early. International students often arrive a week early to settle in and get over jet lag so I think entering a week early is possible but 3.5 weeks may be a push.

Normally its the local council that is required to find you accommodation if you are under 18 and being kicked out of school. Worth exploring since that situation would mean your uni would treat you differently since you would have officially moved into care and all unis are targetted with wider access targets for people who have been taken into care. e.g.

•

You could be eligible for a bursury to help with your student fees. e.g Loughborough Uni gives £5700 a year towards your course fees (less dept for you to take on in the form of a student loan)

Contact your university and explain your situation. More universities are finding ways to accommodate this situation, you might be lucky and find one that can help.

I'm so sorry to hear about the circumstances you are facing. To echo what previous replies say, definitely get in touch with your University to see if they are able to accommodate you before your official residency begins. Hopefully they will be able to provide you with a solution or at the very least advise you on what you can do from here.
