Applying to University
Chemistry is offered as a degree at many UK universities.

The general entry requirements for Chemistry require A Level Chemistry, and often Mathematics or another Science. They usually ask for Chemistry at a grade B/A or above.

Chemistry A Level can lead you to other degrees such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Forensic Science and more.

If you are thinking of applying for Chemistry at university, you will have to tailor your personal statement towards this. You should talk about your interests in Chemistry, and any external activities you have done to explore this (for example, read a relevant book or completed in a chemistry olympiad).

The only university that requires an admission test is the University of Cambridge. If you apply for Natural Sciences, a degree which allows you to choose chemistry related modules (Cambridge does not have a degree for pure Chemistry), you will need to sit the ESAT in the October you apply.

Some universities may invite you to interview. Interview questions may range from asking you about your personal statement, why chemistry or why this university. They may also give you chemistry related questions similar to A Level for you to complete in the interview, so make sure you are solid in your A Level knowledge before the interview.
