Is student life at York poor?

So I’m now 21, and will be going to uni after working a couple years. I still want the full student experience though in a lively city with lots to explore. I have a place at York to study English, but found the offer holder day isolating and full of middle class southern kids.

At the Sheffield open day the students seemed way more down to earth/working class. Is Uni of York really that middle class/slightly dull?

Hi!

That's such a shame that you didn't enjoy our open day. I studied at York, and I am working class and northern. I found that there was a real mix of people from all over, and I felt like I found my community and friends on my course and through societies.

York is a student friendly city and very touristy, so there's always lots on and it's honestly such a lovely place to live. I've stayed after graduation because I loved it so much!

If you have any questions about York, please drop me a message - I'd love to help!

Hazel 🙂

I've got several friends who've had kids recently attend York and they all seemed to like the uni and living there.

But then again, they are all solidly middle class and Southern!

Visited Sheffield a couple of years ago, it is a completely different type of city, you can't really compare it directly with somewhere like York.
