Access to higher education vet science diploma grading

Hello,
I am thinking about starting the access to higher education vet science course via learn direct. I was wondering how hard is it to achieve 45 distinctions? And how many distinctions do vet schools require for this course? Getting all 45 distinctions sounds tough because not a single credit can be below a distinction.

I achieved 45 distinctions on an in-person Access course, so while it's not easy, it definitely can be done. I haven't studied with Learndirect, but it should be similar to other Access courses because they have to be approved by an awarding organisation.

For each graded module, the overall grade is calculated from the grades for each learning outcome, so you don't have to get a distinction for every single one. For example, if you have 5 learning outcomes, you might be able to get an overall distinction if 3 are at distinction and 2 at merit.

You should carefully read and understand the requirements for each learning outcome to make sure you know what's expected to achieve a distinction.

Unis differ in their requirements. UCLan requires 45 at distinction, while Bristol requires fewer distinctions.

Yes, they accept Access to HE Diplomas. You should check with them to see if they have any requirements as to the units on the diploma, as many unis specify the split between Chemistry and other subjects.

Bristol and RVC required me to achieve 15 credits at distinction for biology, 15 for chemistry and the rest to be at least merit. I completed with learn direct and achieved 39 credits distinction and 6 merit.

As mentioned above, as long as you follow the instructions and include all key requirements then it is possible.

The only pressure I had was that there was only 15 chemistry credits available… so I had to ensure I was 1000% satisfied with these units before submission as you aren’t able to resit a unit
