can i switch subjects in year 13
I got a U in IAL physics and want to switch to business. Will my school let me or will they force me to take it on as a 4th subject.

It will be pretty hard to transfer as your school should've taught you around 1/2 of the spec by now and you would have to learn the whole spec of another subject in a shorter timespan. Also, seeing as you are achieving a U in Physics I don't think the school would want you to take on a fourth subject either (In not a rude way at all) as you have not proved to them that you can achieve the higher grades when taking three A levels. It is a tough situation but I think it is most important to talk it through with your teachers as my school had options for other things that could give you more UCAS points if you were going onto uni with lower predictions than needed. I don't mean any of this with negativity, im hoping I answered your questions with honesty 🙂.

That is entirely up to each individual school - ask your Head of Sixth or similar.

lmao . just fail again . it doesn't matter. since u already decided u wanna drop physics ,and u think ur school wont allow u to remove this subject . then I suggest not studying at all ,although it would be pain in the 22s attending those useless physics lectures

I know someone who is switching subjects in year 13. I think you would be joining a year 12 class and have to stay on a year longer till 2027 to allow you to learn the two years worth of content. I might be wrong but this is what I was told. It may be different at your school
