What can I do..

The choices I have for uni are uni of reading for law LLB,(ranked 36th overall and 40th for law) or royal Holloway for law with a year in industry (ranked 35th overall and 65th! For law.) If I look at ranking obviously it’s reading to go to but I feel as though I would enjoy royal Holloway more. Is the difference big enough to just firm going to reading and potentially hating it or can royal Holloway with the worse ranking still get me employability and a job in law. Thanks I appreciate anyone that reply’s.

Hello Kirat 😊

I would consider the perspective of law firms/hiring people in the law firms. I don't know which rankings they value

Good afternoon,

It's great to hear you are considering the University of Reading.

Choosing a university depends on what you want from your university experience. Every student wants something slightly different, such as lecture style or exam vs no exams. I always recommend deciding what you want from your university and writing a list. You can compare the two universities to your own criteria; this means the university will be the best fit for you.

The Whatuni website is good for Find A Course, as they have a full, comprehensive list with reviews. Similarly, the UCAS website has tips on comparing undergraduate courses and universities, which is a great way to narrow down your options.

There is an ambassador scheme at the University of Reading where prospective students can message current students; you can find more information here. The law student Ali will be able to tell you his experience so far of the course.

The university has a great Careers Centre. They offer guidance and advice on how to improve your cv and job skills, i recommend using these services whilst at the university to increase your prospects. The more experience you have, the better your chances, but of course, the job market is always changing. Using the careers service will be a great help in increasing your career skills.
Additionally, every University of Reading student has access to the Careers Centre, which offers Advice and development, Career appointments and Careers Events.

I hope this information is helpful, and if you have any questions, please let us know.

All the best,
Ella
