Conditional Offer at SOAS - Final Transcript Delay

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently accepted my conditional offer at SOAS for a Master’s in Middle Eastern Studies, and my condition is to provide proof that my final Bachelor’s grade meets the required standard. This should not be an issue as I am on track to achieve this grade.
However, I am worried about the deadline of 31 August. The problem is that my university will not be able to finalise and issue my transcript in time. My dissertation and one final paper are still being marked, and the lecturers as well as the administration office have indicated that the process will take longer due to internal changes. This means I might not have the official transcript or final grade certificate ready by the deadline.

Has anyone had a similar experience with SOAS (or other universities)? Do they usually grant extensions for providing results if the delay is due to the university and not the student? I’d be grateful to hear how others have handled a similar situation.

Thank you!

Hi,

This is a pretty common situation and SOAS will be aware that many institutions don't finalise transcripts and degree cettifications until September. Admissions are normally flexible but the next step for now is:

1.

Contact SOAS admissions as soon as you can, explaining the situation - [email protected] - they can be reached through this email address.

2.

Ask your current university for an interim letter or statement that SOAS may accept temporarily. This will be a formal confirmation of your completion status and expected award classification.

3.

Keep everything in writing - make sure to keep screenshots of communication so you have evidence.

I suggest contacting admissions as possible and they can provide further clarification on this.

Best of luck!
