Student Finance- National Insurance Number Issue

Hello, I've applied for student loan for uni which has been confirmed.

However when I attempt to enter my national insurance number it tells me it's already in the system. I followed the instructions to mail my national insurance number to the address provided... It's been 8 weeks and still no contact or change. I'm worried as on the site it says not to contact them but should I call student finance or wait a bit longer?

Also for anyone who is having the same problem as me. Your need to connect to live chat on laptop as it doesn't pop up, if you use your phone.
The option will pop up as chat with us on the bottom right of your screen.

Is it normal if it still hasn't changed and it's saying that my NI number is still in the system. When I did the live chat the person said that my NI number has been approved?

Hi there,

Did they advise a timescale for this to update via your account? Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason, No they just said it will update on my account as soon as possible. They said because I'm applying as a new student it will go through process to be updated on my account. They also said my payment will come as scheduled. Does this mean I have nothing to be worried about as in my head I was thinking next day😅?

Yes, that's right - this all sounds normal. When you apply with us for the first time we check your National Insurance Number once you're approved.

This can take 1-2 weeks, and it will update once this has been done. So, that message on your account will disappear soon.

Thanks, Graeme
