Dentistry 2026 entry help

Hi everyone,

I’m taking a gap year and have achieved 3 A’s and a ucat of 2150 band 1, I have 9 GCSES grade 8/9 and one GCSE grade 7.

Can I get into kcl or Qmul dentistry with these stats?

kcl and qm both have entry requirements of A*AA so you would need to resit one of your a levels to meet the A* requirement. qm doesn't accept resits, so you wouldn't be able to apply qm - unless you're contextual i believe in which your offer would be AAA (however please do look into that, i wasn't contextual so i don't know any details about that). i believe you should be ok to apply kcl if you resit + with your gcses. i don't know what equates to a good ucat score with the new scoring system so i don't think i'd be able to comment on your ucat (but it doesn't look too bad from first impressions).

one thing that i do want to say is that all the other dental schools (maybe with the exception of plymouth?) have the entry requirements for AAA so you would be able to meet their requirements without resitting.

i do want to reiterate that you should do your own research into unis and that most of my knowledge is from last year when i was applying to dent - so this info may be outdated.

feel free to ask any more qs - for some context i'm going kcl in sept and also got an offer from qm too! good luck on your gap year

Hi, thank you so much, I do meet the contextual for queen Marys, so if I apply it should be okay in terms of meeting the minimum requirements? So if I apply and meet the contextual requirement would me not having the A* matter?
I felt there was no point of me retaking as I want to stay in London and that way id have the option of the kcl esdp course and qmul. the ESDP requirements are AAB

id be grateful if you could provide me any interview tips, and what your ucat score was and have you taken a gap year or did you get in first time

i don't know much about applying contextually so i won't be able to say much for certain regarding qm. it may be better trying to find people who did apply qm contextually?

ahh i completely forgot about the esdp course for kcl!! then your a levels should be completely fine

my ucat was 3010 b2 and i got in first time. i approached my kcl and qm interviews differently, dm me i think i'll go into more details there!!
