Casper Test for Dental Hygiene and Therapy

Genuinely curious to find out what people think about the new “Casper test” being put into place for prospective DHT students who want to apply to the following universities (King’s, Portsmouth, Manchester, Leeds)

I’ve personally feared that they would one day initiate a test for DHT as it is one of the more competitive courses in the UK, but honestly didn’t think they would put it in place so soon..

I was quite shocked about it?! and I don't even know which online resources I would use to prep for CASPer or where to begin since 26' applicants would be the first cohort who would have to sit it. Luckily, it's not all schools. Moreover, from what I've seen this exam is mostly taken by students in the US. I guess it was inevitable though, I saw that last year there was around 700 applicants for DHT for Leeds and there was less than 100 spaces available. I suppose it makes admissions a lot easier for them.

Hi im trying to book my casper test now but it requires me to put my ucas ID in to book it. I have my current UCAS ID from when i applied this year for a different course but i know it changes when i put in a new application on UCAS. Does anyone know whether i should just put my old UCAS ID when booking the casper test or what to do?

I'm planning on waiting to receive a new UCAS ID since I've also applied this year. I personally wouldn't risk putting in the old one in due to all the complications it would cause further down the line!

Exactly, I'm super lost. I don't know whether to resort to the Americans for help at this point. But I definitely agree that it makes it a whole lot easier for the admissions team to sort through people more efficiently. I'm still super confused about the dates for the test and how that's gonna affect when we submit our UCAS application, as the only days you can sit the CASPer test are late in December and mid jan. Are we going to have to wait to sit and then submit our UCAS?

Hi i was going to do the same but when i read online that we only receive our new UCAS ID once we have sumbittedof our applications which would probably leave booking the casper test quite late no? I emailed the casper team and they said just but ur current ucas ID in and then book it but when u recieve your new ID then email them and they will change it. Do you think it would be okay to do that or best of waiting till ive sumbitted my application then booking it

Portsmouth uni says All applicants that meet the application entry criteria will be invited to complete a Situational Judgement Admission Test (Casper) and then all shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview in support of their application.’ So i think if you apply for the university, they then will invite you to do it.

Hey, what did you end up doing? I’m in the same boat and also want to send the application after I get my score. So depending on the score I can decide what unis

The bad part of Casper is that they don't even disclose the scores, only give you a quartile from 1-4 of a certain part of the test. So you won't be able to make an informed decision unfortunately :frown:

you have to book the casper test now and the results will come in on february i think. that’s when you would be considered for an interview bc kcl decides whether to invite you based on your casper performance and your whole application

I heard that the Casper test is online. Does this mean we can complete it at home.
