Should i resit Higher Chemistry??

Hello, I've been stressed out about my grades ever since they came out. I want to do Dentistry but i got these grades:

Higher Human Biology - A
Higher History - A
Higher Mandarin - A
Higher Maths - B
Higher English - B
Higher Chemistry - C

Honestly, I'm so disappointed with chemistry because I studied a lot but everything went wrong on the exam day. I wanted to apply to Glasgow and Dundee as I'm only applying to Scottish unis. My postcode is eligible for widening participation and I'm planning to ask my teacher if I could do the REACH programme.

This year for S6 I'm taking (school makes us take 5 subjects):

Advanced Higher Biology
Advanced Higher Maths
Advanced Higher Mandarin
Higher Physics
Higher Business (depends if i resit chem or not)
Higher Chemistry (resit?)

So what i wanted to know is if I should resit chemistry because i know about how some unis feel about resits. Should I or not?? I even thought of changing my career path to engineering or biomed subjects but I would be still gutted.

Please any help would be appreciated!

hi! the results you got were amazing and i think you should be proud of yourself. the best bet is to phone up the unis and tell them ur grades and ask if they would be okay with u resitting chemistry and also check the entry requirements so yk what u need to get but you’re taking so much advanced highers that i believe you don’t need to retake chemistry. however if u had to choose between business or chemistry i think id suggest resitting chemistry but it depends what the unis say and want from you, i think dundee is more lenient but im not sure you would have to check their website and phone if possible! hope this helps a bit

As said by another user above, the best thing to do would be to contact the universities themselves and ask.

Each university might say something different, so it would be best to contact each university that you plan on applying to.

However, well done on your results, even with Chemistry not being what you were hoping for.

Hi! Thank you for the advice I will definitely phone up the unis and ask. I’ve submitted an appeal for chem but course it will very unlikely go up to a B (2 marks off). I’m going to ask my school if I could resit chemistry as I think it will open up more options to me even if I don’t end up going into dentistry
