How usefull is AS Further Maths

I would like to study pure econ or econ and management at top unis such as KCL ,UCL , LSE , Warwick , bath etc
I know in order to get into competitive unis you need further maths. However, I am a bit worried about further maths so I was thinking to do further maths AS instead. Is it worth taking AS further maths or will it not be beneficial when getting into these unis?

appreciate the help

Check the entry requirements for each Uni - some may make you a lower grade A level offer if you are predicted a high grade for AS FM. Just be aware that you have chosen all very competitive Unis for Economics and that is very risky for a subject like Economics where those Unis can have the pick of applicants. I'd suggest that you pick at least one less competitive AAA Uni like Loughborough or Birmingham or even an AAB/ABB Uni such as Southampton or Sheffield.

Hi,
I think it would be beneficial to your normal maths grade as it makes normal maths a breeze, if you want to get into unis like lse you will need to do the full A level so I would recommend doing it. The thing with further maths is that anyone can do well in it but it requires consistent work. Also for econ degrees they are very maths heavy so doing further will make your uni studies a lot easier.

I'm not sure but I do know for LSE econ you need a level further maths and I would say if your school offers it opt for a level further maths as these unis may question why you did not do it when you had the chance.

Also, I want to add I'm personally doing A level Further Maths and I am predicted A* in it. It's not the challenge that everyone makes it out to be imho.

I think not being able to keep up / the consistency is what's scaring me! I was thinking maybe I should do the AS and if I do well I would do the full a level? Im not sure but thanks you for your help 🙂

Yeah that's a good point. As my school offers it, it would be more beneficial to take.

Wow, thats great!! well done!! Any advice to taking it? Do you think the questions are just repetitive or more application? Also what other subjects are you taking?
