Higher English Folio WORD COUNT question

Hello, my current essay draft is 1,390 words. Do they allow <10% over the word count?
Thank you.

Yes! While they say 1,300 words is the maximum word count they do allow you to go up to 10% over that before they start taking marks away from you for it. The maximum maximum (as in, you will lose marks if you go over this) is 1,430 words.

As above, 10% extra is the maximum. However, although I do not recommend it and it would be very silly of you to do so, you are allowed to go slightly over this limit- only if what you have written does not unfairly improve your piece by being over the work count. Again, let me emphasise that you should not do this and simply cut down your word count yourself.

Oh yeah, by the way, do not use AI to write the piece for you, it will not work out in your favour.

Best of luck!
