Willy Wonka was more of a child hater than a child lover, my dear.

in as few words, he said that he wanted a child to take over his factory as they are easy to manipulate, he was very fond of charlie. i would say he was rather grateful of children.

Nah I wouldn't say so, I see where you're coming from though but it's just that he owned a chocolate factory and children love chocolate. He wanted someone to carry on his factory when he passed on or was too old to do it anymore and he had no son or daughter or family himself to take over so he did the Golden Tickets to hopefully find someone and that person was Charlie Bucket. Nothing weird about it to me and there were no real references to anything sexual or anything but if there were then maybe it'd be a different story.
