Idk what to do (again) :(

I just got my mock grades back, I am predicted AAA for english lit, chem and maths, and i just had my first set of mocks and I received an A in english lit, a C in maths and I didn't do a chem mock because i missed it due to a work experience.

Idk what to do because i've never gotten a C in anything before, and i'm terrified that because this happened with yr 1 math content, I won't understand yr 2 content. I usually do so well in the unit math tests, and i understand the textbook but when it comes to the major exams I don't do aswell.

Are there any tips for maths A-level revision? To revise, I used to make notes from the textbook, do the practice qs in the textbook and make flashcards, but now im thinking of only doing flashcards and practice qs because the notes take way too long, is that a good idea?

I really need an A in maths for the majority of chem eng courses at uni, do you think its reasonable to look at alternative courses? Idk what other courses I would want to do that I COULD do with my subjects. Any tips would be appreciated! tysm

Hi,
I wouldnt worry too much about the C as it is only one test and you have probably rested a lot over summer. I would recommend not writing notes as they burn time. I would highly recommend you structure your revision as 70 percent practice qs and 30 percent flashcards. Because instead of making notes you can learn the mark scheme to ensure you will pick up marks. This worked very well for me in yr 12 as I have 4 A* predicted from it in chem, bio, maths and latin.

Hi, thank you so much for the really quick response, I am really stressed and it means alot! ❤️ Do you have any good links/ websites/ youtubers that you would recommend for revision? Also do you think the jump from a C to an A is possible within this time?

Hey, I got a C in my Maths mock in january of Year 13 and I came out with a strong A on results day last week!! You definitely have enough time to improve (you have way more time than I had and I managed to do it!). Lots of past papers and past paper questions, and use MADAS maths to get some practice with the trickier questions once you have consolidated your knowledge. BicenMaths on Youtube has really good videos on any of those topics you are struggling with!! Good luck! You’ll def be able to get there )

hey it’s okay 🙂 thanks!! you could also check out Zeeshan Zamurred on Youtube, although he is not as good as Bicen Maths for Stats & Mechanics. I did find Zeeshan Zamurred really helpful for things like the Y2 Integration and Differentiation because he explains concepts and then does examples ( i would watch an example and then for the next examples pause the video, work it out, play etc). You definitely have loads of time!! Good luck!!

Remember not to study continuously and take breaks frequently. I fell victim to this and barely managed to scrape through because of burnout.

Yess, I will be sure to take this into account, I got really burnt out during GCSEs so I am going to try and space everything out much more in Year 13, tysm!😊
