Yes Nottingham do accept reapplicants. The fact that you have already applied and have had an interview makes no difference. The only time this comes into play for vet med applicants is for clearing . An applicant who has had an interview in the current application round can’t apply for a place through clearing in the same application round because they believe that the time between the first interview and the clearing interview is not sufficient to address the weaknesses brought to light in the first interview. There is no discrimination against second time applicants however in successive rounds.
Best of luck.

Sorry to jump on this post… if you get offered a place at Notts but don’t choose it as a firm or insurance choice, if you don’t meet the grades of those chosen, can you apply for Notts through clearing the same year?

I would have thought so, although if they have already made you an offer I’m not sure if they would change that offer through clearing given that they refuse those that don’t make the grades on accepted offers. I imagine it must be on an individual basis but always worth a try.

I want to apply to Notts but my two top have higher grade requirements so if (big if) I get offers from them I wouldn’t have notts in my final 2 choices… then roll on results day 2026 if my results don’t go as hoped I could still theoretically meet the grades Notts offered me.. trying to choose unis strategically lol

You are right to apply strategically, and your logic holds in as much as if you have an interview and get refused a place you can’t then apply to them through clearing. BUT as you say it’s not in your top choices of vet schools why not ensure a potential 5th choice as long as you are aware that there are only a very limited number of places in the April cohort that go into clearing.
Just be aware that the application process is very competitive and that when you choose your schools you must be CERTAIN to fulfill ALL of their minimum requirements and feel confident that the application processes used suit your character as much as any of them can.

is it only the gateway and foundation vet med courses that can be used as a 5th choice? Or can the Notts April be too?
Sorry for all the questions.

No it can’t officially be chosen as a fifth choice, but the fact is that if you haven’t applied to them in the main application cycle, or haven’t been interviewed by them, if on results day you are either holding no offers or haven’t achieved the necessary grades for your offers there is nothing preventing you from attempting clearing for the April cohort which would effectively give you a fifth choice of school. However, you would have to be VERY quick because there are literally a handful of places kept back for clearing ( I’ve heard 3 or 4) so it is very competitive given the relatively high number of candidates not holding offers at the end of the cycle and can in no way be considered a safe option.

I believe so, the best thing to do would be to call the clearing line and they would be able to advise. The clearing number is +44(0)33 004 15590 but it would be worth visiting www.nottingham.ac.uk/clearing first to check whether the course you are interested in is open and whether you meet the entry requirements. If you had a firm or insurance offer (I know this is not the case for yourself, but for the benefit of others reading) but didn't meet the requirements then no as your application would have already been considered in the near miss process. Hope this helps 🙂 Official Rep Karen
