Can I privately sit A-Levels?

Hello,
I hope you all are doing well.

Just wanted to ask if I can privately sit my A-Levels? Does this therefore mean that I don’t need to attend any sixth form/college?
I’ve been studying in the summer to get a head start and I’ve been enjoying studying Bio, Chem & Maths for A-Levels.
However, I don’t want to attend a college (I didn’t have a good highschool experience at all).

If I want to sit these exams privately, do I have to inform my local council or anything as I won’t be attending a college? Is there a procedure I should be aware of (do I have to sign any papers etc)?

Also, my parents really want me to attend a college/sixth form but I would much rather independent study the subjects. How do I convince my strict parents?

Thank you in advance.

yeah you can either:
a) register with a company that basically give you content to revise, mocks, practicals (since you were interested in sciences) and exams, these range from around 2k per subject . (practicals and exams paid for), they'll give you predicted grades and probably a ucas reference too
b) learn the content yourself, youll have to reach out to an exam center and pay for exams+practicals, and also pay to get your predicted grades (200 per subject)(if you want to apply for uni, they also give you a reference), practicals are expensive so sciences (exam+prac) would be 800-1k, and maths around 200?

i wouldnt recommend privately doing them unless you are 100% sure you have the discipline and structure to actually do the work, it's also quite expensive
in terms of council, no you dont have to inform them, however i think it may be useful in terms of council tax (not sure how that works)
