When to move into Madeira Road Halls AUB

Hello,
My new tenancy starts at Madeira Road on 6th September, which they are call moving in weekend, however freshers week is not until the 29th September. While the halls has a few events and calls it their settling in period, I am not sure what the point is of being there so early. I wondered what anyone else's thoughts are, I think I am going to arrive on the 20th. Thanks

Hi, I'm in home park accommodation but I'm also considering moving in on the 20th instead. Spending 3 weeks doing almost nothing before uni starts seems so unappealing.

Yep exactly what I was thinking, the 20th would still be in time for Bournemouth Uni and Arts Uni freshers weeks - don't know what I'd do with three weeks of nothing, just a bit worried everyone else would arrive really early !

I'm moving into the same place but only am earlier due to my course starting earlier than the rest, I also think some international students are moving in earlier to as it might help them adjust but honestly it's fair enough if you move in later cause 3 weeks is a long time 😭

If you don't mind me asking, what course are you doing?

OOO that's so cool
Hi there! It depends on the individual really. We offer an early start as many students like having the time to settle into a new place/way of life and get a slower introduction to life at university. As you mentioned, we offer events and trips to help you get to know the area and meet other students, but these are optional.

Personally, I moved in early and appreciated the extra time to get to know the people I'd be living with and start making friends. it was in those first two weeks that I made friends for life after meeting them at a party. With that said though, two or three weeks can be a long time if you end up just waiting for other people to arrive and events to start. If it sounds like it's not for you then it probably isn't!

Hope this helps
