Hi there 👋

I’m a recent Law with Business graduate from Swansea, and honestly I’d say Law here is a great choice. ⚖️

One of the highlights for me was getting involved in the Swansea Law Clinic -https://www.swansea.ac.uk/law/lawclinic/. It gives you the chance to work on real cases and community projects under supervision. For example, I helped put together resources and produced presentations on battery and assault, discrimination, and children’s rights in education to help widen legal knowledge in the community. It was really rewarding volunteer work that also looks fantastic on your CV, since you’re showing employers you’ve gained practical legal and presentation experience outside of lectures.

In terms of modules, the course covers all the foundations you need for SQE1 📚, like Contract, Tort, Equity & Trusts and more. But after first year, you also get a wide choice of optional modules to tailor your degree. Everything from Negotiations, World Trade Law and Sports Law, so there’s room to explore your interests alongside the core content.

There are also loads of opportunities to build your legal skills outside the classroom. Swansea runs competitions and training in mooting, client interviewing and mediation all of which are brilliant practice for the kinds of assessments and real-world tasks you’ll face as a solicitor. 🏆

The Law Society is very active too and their main sponsor is Eversheds Sutherland. Thanks to that partnership,we got to attend an insight evening with the firm, which was a fantastic networking opportunity 🌟. On top of that, the Law society provides and opportunity to participate in the annual Commercial Awareness Competition, which, after competing, secured me some work experience with a leading firm in Cardiff 🏙️. Those kinds of opportunities gave me exposure to the legal profession really early on.

Therefore, I would honestly say Swansea is pretty good for law. If you’d like to find out more or talk through your options, the Clearing helpline is open now on 📞 +44 (0)1792 277777. Its definitely worth giving them a ring.
