LSBU time table for nursing

Has anyone received theirs or know when we will receive it?
My childminder wants to draw up a contract and keeps asking what my hours are, I don’t know what to say.

Hi Lottie82.ld
I understand your childminder wanting to do this as they have hours or certain times of the day that they can do and also have time off, too. However, as a student nurse at any university. You are required to do two days at uni, one being a full day at university and the second day is independent learning at home all day and then when on placement in November or whenever your university does the placements. You do not get set shifts on the same day every week for example, one week you could be doing a Wednesday and Friday and another week you could be doing a Thursday Friday or Friday and a Saturday and at least once a month you will be required to work a weekend so on a Saturday and Sunday. The NHS also doesn't give the rotas out until two weeks before, Try and explain this to your childminder and see if they have flexible contracts available as long as it agreed on the contract to give them two weeks notice. Otherwise your best option is a nursery or after school club and relying on relatives to have your child/children when you are on a night shift. I would also ask your childminder if it's okay to let her know ASAP in September/October once you have started the course and will know more.

Thank you for your response.
Not a lot of days at uni then that’s really helpful thank you!
I’m prepared with family members for placement it was just the uni days I’m more concerned with getting organised with a routine. I’ve been a stay at home mum for a while so getting organised for positive outcome for all is important (plus it eases anxiety) I very much appreciate your feedback so thank you.

Hey there,

You will receive your timetable by email a few weeks before the start of term in September. It will give you all the details you need to prepare for the start of your course.

Alongside your timetable, you’ll also receive information about things like your induction sessions, where you’ll meet your lecturers and course mates, and details on how to access your online learning platforms. These will all be shared with you before teaching begins so that you feel prepared and know exactly what to expect in your first weeks.

Good luck!
