Dropping Eng Lang Courses at Glasgow Uni

Hi all, I completed my enrollment the other day for MA English Lit at Glasgow University.

I didn't realise until then that it's a requirement to also take a course in English Language. This wasn't really a problem, just a bit of a letdown as I wanted to pursue something different through my electives.

However, I'm wondering if it's possible to drop English Language in the second year of the English Lit course?

I'll see how it goes but as it stands I don't have a massive passion for the subject and would rather try something else as an elective in my second year.

Hi @spongebobfan24 ,

When you move into your second year, you will take forward two subjects from your first year (English Literature + 1 other). You could definitely drop English Language; however, you'd have to continue with your other subject. Have you decided what that is going to be yet?

There's some really useful information here which explains how the process works - https://www.gla.ac.uk/undergraduate/choosingyourdegree/artssciencesocialsciences/arts/
