University interview

I had an interview today for adult nursing, it was an absolute disaster I Couldn't speak to at points because I was so overwhelmed and just couldn't understand or answer any of the questions properly even the basic one's because my mind kept going blank even though I've spent weeks practising and revising for this day. Im 100% sure I have not been successful as the interviewer said I would receive feedback within 10 days, which told me all I needed to know!! Any calming tips for my next interview would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

Hi @Clarew1983

Don't be too hard on yourself, consider this a practice interview. Now you know relatively how the questions will be like and the atmosphere of the interview. It's completely normal to be overwhelmed in nursing interviews, we've all been there.
For your next interview, practice deep breathing before the interview, inhale for 4 seconds, hold for a couple of seconds then slowly exhale. You can also prepare some notes to revise before the interview so the information is fresh in your brain. And remember! practice makes perfect.
Wish you the best 🤗

I’ve seen a lot of adult nurse offer holders saying they felt they’d done really bad and then got an offer days later so don’t stress too much!

I watched YouTube videos there’s some lovely ladies who give hints and tips really helped me.

With questions regarding situations remember to look at it like a detective and all possible holistic reasoning and just talk through that, if they see your thinking pattern there and then they can see if you’re a good candidate.

Get over confident with the 6 c’s and what each of them mean regarding nursing team, family and patients.

It’s good you’ve revised the more knowledge is power! I kept writing things down continuously until they embedded in my brain.

Before your interview set your environment up and have a talk to yourself-this is YOUR moment sell your self but remember nurses are empathetic, compassionate, you need to demonstrate courage but don’t come across obnoxious or cocky which can sometimes happen when you fake confidence.

More importantly smile.

You’ve got this! Good luck 🤞🏻
