GEM medical schools to apply for with low UCAT score

Hi,

I have considered applying to medicine for longest time however UCAT really seems to be my sticking point. I am averaging around 1788 (now without abstract reasoning) but Band 1 in medify UCAT mocks and cannot seem to improve. I got 9-7 for GCSEs, A*, A*, A for bio, chem and psychology at a-level and a first-class degree in Medical sciences. I've got voluntary work experience at a hospital and cardiac rehab centre, GP work experience and starting a job as a healthcare support worker next month. However, I feel as if my UCAT score may heavily decrease the chance of getting an offer. Any guidance?? thank you

How long have you been trying w the UCAT? Also, what are your individual scores for the subtests in UCAT? Some GEM unis such as Warwick/chester etc, prioritise a high VR score more than a higher overall score etc

Thanks for your reply! I started revising in may this year and do around 2 hours per day - also studied last year for it but decided not to take it. Unfortunately, I tend to get lower score on VR and normally I've kind of gotten stuck on getting ~50% of questions right. My average scores for each section are:

VR: 594
DM: 607
QR: 587
SJ: Band 1

I would focus on getting that VR score up, timed practise is the best. You need above the national average which is approx 610 I believe but please double check this as it may have changed! QR you can probably score higher if you can speed up mental maths but imo, VR should be top priority
