Resits GCSE for medicine

I'm a year 12 going to year 13 l resat English language I got a grade 5 and last year I originally got a 4. My other GCSEs average is above a 7 and my predicted grades is A* A*A in biology, maths and chemistry. I have contextual offer for bsms and I can apply to Brunel. I haven't seen my marks so l might be able to get a remark but worst case scenario I don't get my grade remark to 6. I don't know I'm considering resitting in November and apply for medicine this year or should I just focus on my a levels cancel my ucat and resit in November and take a gap year and reapply ? I'm so lost. I really want to apply for medicine I'm 100% sure

A lot of Unis want a 6 in English. Check their policies (might be worth emailing them if it's unclear) if you can have the GCSE pending (that is if you can apply currently with the 5 with a higher predicted, or if you need to have already achieved this before the UCAS deadline). If they don't allow this at any/many Unis it might be best to take a gap year.
