Hi, I am joining Trevs college next month and I’ve been allocated to Shoichi hall. Has anyone else been allocated there? And can anyone give me some insight as to what it’s like staying there? x

i feel ok about it - it's not too far from the main college so that's nice, plus i think it has a bit more modern facilities? that's what i gathered from the blogged linked on the email! how are you feeling about it?

yeah i’m feeling the same way - it would’ve been nice to be in the main college but i don’t really mind. i like that the kitchens seem to be better there :smile:

yup! im going to be doing both Latin and Greek as well as the historical stuff etc, idk what the options are for languages in your course tho?

I’m not planning to study languages tbh, as I’d have to sacrifice modules I’m more interested in, but I’m considering getting the GCSE course book and studying Greek a bit more passively!

ah i see! i'm committed to doing Latin obvi cuz it's Classics! Still unsure on whether to do Greek or some other modules - pretty sure we'll have some core modules shared tho!

I’m doing 3 classics modules and 3 archaeology - so I have the two core modules and one option (probs Lives of Objects)!

So Trevs used Shoichi for all three years I lived in (but I never lived in shoichi). When I went over there on a couple of occasions it seemed nice. The social area was good I thought. The people I knew in first year seemed to enjoy it and it had a really good community feel. I frepped for the past two years and there was effort to integrate Shoichi, with freps being allocated to landings there for the whole week, as well as freps being around for move in, so hopefully this should be similar for you :smile:
