Dilemma

Hey, I got my gcses results and unfortunately I didnt get the grade i need for maths a level. (I got a 6) The rest of my gcses were majority 6s and 7s. However, my a level options were maths economics and psychology. I wanted to do economics at university and since Ive received these results i no longer can. I have decided to do accounting and finance as a choice for university. However, will i need to do a level maths to get onto that course? And is politics a good fit for this?

Have you looked at the entry requirements for Economics. Many Uni do not actually require A level Maths - check the courses at Unis like UEA, Kent, Sussex, Royal Holloway, Reading, Sussex, Essex, Swansea, Cardiff, Aberystwyth, Keele, Aston etc.

I’ve checked all the entry requirements and pretty all of them require maths :frown:( its okay though because I was also thinking of a finance and accounting degree aswell which doesn’t really require a level maths at some russell group universities.

Be aware that RG is just a bit of marketing fluff - it doesn't mean anything significant in the real world. It certainly doesn't mean the course is 'better', however you think you can measure this, nor does it mean an employer is going to be more desperate to employ you than with a degree from any of the Unis I've mentioned above.

And - this is important - A&F, both the course and the career, focusses on maths/numbers.
If you are already struggling with Maths is this really a good fit?
