Applying to Kings Maths School

So I'm just really confused and need some help from someone whose gone through the application for kms.

For my y10 mocks I didn't really do that well cause I was dealing with a lot of friend drama and literally prepared for those mocks the night before. I want to apply to kms but don't know if my application will be even considered cause I don't meet their entry requirements. I got a 7 in maths (h) which doesnt meet the requirement and an 8-8 in combined science (h) which does meet the requirement and Ive got 5 other subjects that are above grade 5. I'm just worried cause of my math grade and wanted to ask that when I apply this sept, will they consider my application?

Otherwise I'm thinking of applying after my first term of y11 which ends in late oct so I can grind during that term and raise my predicted grade for maths and lock in for triple science physics since ill be taking triple in y11. But I don't know if its worth delaying my application for about a month... Just wanted to ask if the entry requirements are something that are expected of those who got conditional offers or for those planning to apply.

Sorry if this seems a lil dumb I just need lots of clarification lol.

A grade 7 in Maths might be a bit on the low side, depends on how close it was to an 8 I guess.

You've got some time to get your predicted grades up perhaps. I can't remember the exact dates from last year but the Kings application process doesn't open till late September and closes around early-mid November IIRC.

Why don't you attend the open evening to find out more and judge whether it's realistic for you to apply? It's usually online in early October.

Bear in mind that you also have to pass an entrance test to get to the interview stage. You'll need to do some prep for that like past papers practice as some of the questions will be in a problem solving style that you probably aren't used to from school.
