The market of Architecture is so saturated in London that the average pay now is not worth the 7 years invested at Uni.
I recommend signing up to Accelerate, STORE STORE, the maker Challenge and speakers for schools have really good works experiences in Architecture.

Also, Uni don't care about maths nor Physics, it's all a Myth.

Yeah.

Anyone have any idea how to pick between bath/sheffield/loughborough or Cardiff?

I think Cardiff does Bsc or something, apparently theres more essays although i could be wrong. Bath is a bit more technical/engineering. Sheffield and Loughborough is BA which is more artistic. This is over simplified obviously. Its just to give you an idea but check the course details and modules on their websites. Go to their open days and try out some of their courses. You can also look at the uni rankings, Sheffield is a number one in architecture similar to Loughborough. Have a look at their facilities too because some may have a more advance technology than others.

Hope that helps 🌝

Hi everyone 👋
I’m not applying this year, but I studied at the Architectural Association in London. Thought I’d drop in because I remember how stressful this stage can feel.
If anyone has questions about portfolios, general preparation, or interviews, I’d be happy to share what helped me when I was applying. Feel free to reach out anytime!

Good luck to everyone applying it’s a tough process, but also a really exciting time!

Have you been to any open days or looked at the end-of-year degree show work?

The title of the course (BA, BSc, BArch) makes no difference to the content of the course. UCL's course is probably seen as the most creative architecture course and it's a BSc.

Hi,
Do you know when I would have to have my portfolio ready for 2026 entry?

Once you submit your UCAS application, unis can request it quite quickly and will usually give you on average of 3-6 weeks to submit it. My recommendation is, don't submit your UCAS application until your portfolio is ready. If you are applying to Cambridge, just submit that choice by the October deadline and add your other choices by the January deadline.

I thought you had to apply to all of your uni choices at once when applying to Oxbridge because you can only submit one UCAS application… is this false?

You have one application with five choices. You can submit your application with just one choice (or two or three choices) and then add the rest later.

I plan on submitting my ucas with chem socio and maths but if I change the maths for statistics will this narrow down my offers?

It depends on where you want to apply. If it is one of the few unis that require of prefer maths for architecture, then it is best to contact admissions and ask before you apply. For those unis that don't specify any subject requirements, it won't matter.

Do you have a list of potential interview questions?

They can't be shared on TSR as it gives an unfair advantage to students who follow.

Hand drawing is an important skill for the course (particularly in first year) so most unis would expect to see some examples in your portfolio. Have a look at the following thread:

It's not possible to do so on TSR without sharing personal details, which is not allowed for safeguarding reasons. Do you have an art teacher who can look at it for you?
