Condition offer rejected due to previous study

I am an mature student that was accepted to study at St Georges. I made them my firm and they gave me a place. I disclosed that I went to university when I was 18 ten years ago and I failed the year. They reject my place when my previous uni sent them proof. My UCAS clear showed that in my education history. Has anyone got an similar story or applied to Radiography after failing year at another uni?
Rather odd if they were aware of it from the initial application.

Did they confirm to you that this was the reason for the rejection?

Yes, they said that the university does not accept students who have failed a whole year. However the entry requirements and admission policy doesn't state this.

Was it a similar Health care degree or another subject?

Ok, I was just wondering if it was anything to do with healthcare bursaries but obviously not. Could it be because you have already received one year of student funding previously ( I thought there is a limit of student finance to one degree ,or part of degree, only unless you left the first due to compelling personal circumstances)?

If it is a blanket policy then it probably should be stated somewhere. but they are within their rights to reject candidates based on previous academic results. However, they should have done that at the point you applied, not given you an offer then revoked it later. In fact they may be breach of their contract with UCAS depending on the exact wording of your offer.

There is a fair chance they won't reverse their decision but I think it might be worth putting in a formal complaint as:

You disclosed the previous study at the point of application

They didn't request any further info about it at the time

They gave you a conditional offer based on your stated quals and study

You firmed them based on the given conditions of the offer, (which presumably didn't mention anything about this period of study being reviewed or having an acceptable result?)

They rejected you only when you sent transcripts of all your qualifications, which has left you in a very awkward spot late in the cycle

Hi, im sorry to hear this! Was just wondering if you did email them before interviews and that they accepted it and changed their minds or they never confirmed acceptance back then?

who have failed a whole year.

So - probably nothing to do with previous study per se, just that you previously failed part of another degree.

Yes, but if they had an issue with it they should have raised it when they applied, not after giving them a conditional offer.
