These are my stats:
GCSE's: 988887776654
Predicted A levels: A*AA
I flopped the UCAT and got 1760 Band 3. I was hoping for a score of 2100+ to apply for King's and and QMUL but i'm gonna have to resit the UCAT and take a gap year. Although I'm not exactly sure what to do. I may apply for dental hygiene at King's. Please give me advice on what I should do. Thanks.

Applying for Dental Hygiene in this round is a good compromise if you can't apply for dent due to your UCAT. If you get an offer, then after A level results day you can decide whether to start the course or take a gap year and apply for dent instead if you achieve your predicted grades. Just a note - dental hygiene (and therapy) courses are also very competitive.

If you're applying to university for Dentistry for 2026 entry, this is the place to introduce yourself to fellow applicants, ask questions and share your experience of applying so far.
A few questions to start the conversation:
Which universities are you hoping to apply for?
A level subjects and predicted grades?
Work/shadowing experience?
Anything else?
Share as little or as much information as you are comfortable with. :yep:
Please don't share details of interview questions on the forum - it gives those who follow you an unfair advantage.

I am currently in my gap year and am planning to apply for dentistry this year. My qualifications are:

UCAT - 2120 + band 2
GCSEs - 98998774 (including combined science 9-8) + D* in BTEC Sport
A Levels (achieved in Bio, Chem, Maths respectively) - A*AA
EPQ - A
MOOC in implant dentistry
I was wondering if an application to Cardiff University for their Dental Surgery BDS course is a good idea for me and not a waste of a UCAS spot. The main concern I had was regarding my GCSEs; having a BTEC and also a 4 in a language could hinder my application. A few weeks back I heard that as I have achieved A-levels this could play to my advantage and compensate for the 4 at GCSE. Please if anyone could share some info, thanks!

Have a look on previous years application threads so you can have an idea of applicant’s stats and offers. From what I remember, Cardiff is heavy on GCSE’s.

I really wanted to apply for KCL but none of my teachers will predict me an A* which is so annoying because the rest of my stats are pretty good but like wtv if i do end up with an A* i might take a gap year and apply to KCL but i also dont wanna retake the ucat. For context my stats are 2280 B2, AAA predicted, 99988888776 gcse. Also is leeds actually a good uni orr bcs i wanted to apply for bristol but their ucat cuttoff is like 2300 soo I went for leeds instead. Right now im applying to glasgow, cardiff, newcastle, leeds and KCL for biomed but idk whether to change leeds to another uni bcs my personal statement is not the strongest so a ucat heavy or gcse heavy uni would probably be better

Hi! I am a gap year student hoping to apply to dentistry.

I have achieved AAA in my A levels. My GCSE’s are 9988887776 and my ucat is 2180 band 3. I was hoping to apply QMUL, Birmingham and Newcastle. I dont know about my fourth option. I am willing to resit an A level. If I do, do I have a chance at KCL. I am also contextual as polar quintile 1
