I am on a similar situation. my mom got a skilled worker visa nd I have a dependant visa ( 17 year old ). Rn in year 13, came to the UK late 2022. yes you can go to uni, but as an international student bcz for you to be a home student, you need an ILR.
I have contacted ucas and student finance england and these were their reply.
UCAS- fee status depends on the university and you need to contact them directly.
Student fianace- You do meet the criteria of living in the UK for 3 year, but not the one where you need an ILR or pre-settleed status.
I did reach to the point to go the uni as a mature student, after I get an ILR, but beacuse that will take too long espically with the chance of the UK ILR rules to change. so I think i did a fee assessment from
https://ukstudyoptions.com/fee-status-checker/
I did this because you can't do a fee assement from the uni unless you apply via ucas. I did this so that I can have a better idea of wht will happen with fee status as I can't afford to pay for the international fee without a loan for sure. so I didn't wanted to sent off an application for nothing only to hear back I am considered as an international student.
As expeceted, I am NOT a home student in England, and wales, and northern ireland.💀
so yah I looked into scothish uni and read thru quite a few legal documents, i decided to gamble and apply with the hope I could be a RUK student ( same fee as a home student fee in england ). I am still not eligable for loans, so I applyed to year to deffer, and I already got 3 offers. some did say I was international just based on the info in ucas, but I asked them to do a fee assessment and now I am RUK student for the year 2027 intake.

so yah this is my experience, and my family friend, she finished her a levels last year, is 20 next year. similar boat as me in terms of when we came to uk and all but she is working rn and is planning to save up quite a bit and go to uni probably after getting an ILR as she doesn't want to trouble her parents alot financially.

feel free to ask any questions and yah, this is just my experience, idk how useful this is to you ngl ( and ignore the tons of spelling mistakes here as I was typing in a rush )

At 19, that person is no longer a 'dependent' and so they have no visa status in the UK.

but from what ik, you will still remain as ur parents dependant, but it will change from child to adult dependant when you renew it. You are no longer under a dependant visa if
You are married or in a civil partnership.

You have formed an independent family unit (e.g., have children).

You don't live with your parent (unless you are away at university or boarding school as part of full-time education).

If you are not financially dependent on your parent.

I could be wrong, but this is based on my understand of dependant visa ( as someone who is under a child dependant visa )
