Hi, I’m planning to apply to UCL, Bath, Birmingham, and Nottingham. For my fifth choice, I’m deciding between Lincoln, Portsmouth, Aston, and UCLan. I completed work experience in a hospital pharmacy, which I really enjoyed and which confirmed my interest in studying pharmacy.

UCL is the only university I’m worried about being rejected from straight away, since I achieved a grade 4 in English Language. The other universities seem to accept that, though. At the moment, I think Bath or Nottingham may end up being my first choice.

I also completed an EPQ focused on pharmacy. My GCSE grades were 9, 8, 8, 7, 7, 7, 7, 5, and 4, and I’m hoping to be predicted A*, A, A, and an A in my EPQ.

Don't apply to any unis where you don't meet the GCSE requirements as it will result in an immediate rejection, and it is a waste of a choice. If you really want to apply to UCL, ask your school if you could retake English in November or next May.

I think it would be a waste of a choice. It doesn't matter where you study pharmacy as courses are accredited by the GPC so give yourself the best chance by applying to unis where you do meet the entry requirements.

Hi, I plan to apply to Uni of Manchester, Uni of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moore's University, Keele Uni and Uni of Central Lancashire. I did 3 months of work experience in a community Pharmacy. I got 9,9,9,9,9,8,7,7,7 at GCSE, however I am struggling with A-Levels. Right now, I am predicted BBB in Biology, Chemistry and French, but I'm hoping in my next mocks to get that up to AAB OR ABB. Do you think I still have a chance in getting into MPharm?

Hi @hmn123, it's great to hear we're one of your options!

Your GCSE results are amazing, predicted grades are great too 😊 I completely understand your current struggles, it's really hard to balance A-Levels with University applications and life outside of studying. Your predicted grades already reflect your hard work and passion for Pharmacy.

Our MPharm entry requirements are BBB at A2 or equivalent 120 points from three A-Levels, must include Chemistry or Biology at grade B or above and another science at grade B or above, and GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths and English. If you achieve your predicted grades or higher, you are well on your way to studying Pharmacy with us here at the University of Lancashire.

Good luck with the rest of your studies and if you do have any other questions, please do let me know.
Best wishes, ^Hannah

Thank you so much. When should I submit my application by? Is it better to do it early or do it nearer to the time of the deadline? And when do interviews for Pharmacy usually take place?

When you submit your application won't make a difference to your chances of an offer - just make sure it is by the equal consideration deadline in January.

You're welcome! 😊

You have until the UCAS January deadline, 6pm 14 January 2026, to submit your application. Timing will not impact your chances of an interview or an offer, all applications are considered equally. Interviews will typically take place in March.

Let me know if you have any other questions, ^Hannah.

Just remember that it doesn't matter where you train as a Pharmacist - all MPharm degrees are accredited as equal by the GPhC, they all cover the same set syllabus, and all lead to the same professional qualification. There is no 'better' course - and the NHS is not going to care where you trained, and your future patients/customers won't ask.

Bath usually interviews all applicants who meet their minimum entry requirements.

Hi! I want to apply to UCL, KCL and Kingston pharmacy. However I’m doing a dental personal statement though there’s not a high chance of me getting into dentistry. Would these universities accept a dental personal statement? I emailed UCL SoP and they said as they’re competitive it would be unlikely I would get an offer or even interview. Would I really have a bad chance?

You need to ask UCL, KCL and Kingston if they will accept a separate PS for pharm. Then reconsider your application - for the best chance possible for dentistry, you need to apply to all four choices.

Hi my daughter is looking at predicted grades of B in Maths and C in chemistry . Are there any Mpharm courses who will accept a C , don’t want her wasting a choice on UCAS, also anyone on here who has competed a foundation / prep year and then progressed onto Moharm . Thanks

With a C in Chemistry, and even with a Foundation year an MPharm is going to be challenging. If she didnt apply this year, could she work hard enough to get better grades and then apply in a gap year for 2027 entry with higher achieved grades?
