Hi there,

If you're asking about the 4 year version of this course then that's not an exception, unfortunately.

The 1 Year PGCE option is an exception, however, so it may be worth asking the university if you could do that instead.

Thanks, Graeme

I spoke to SFE online chat and i got confirmation i would get funding for English with Secondary Education QTS 3 year course, from two different advisors and i have the transcripts ? is that an exception? I did not obtain a degree before

Hi there, for a PGCE course to be classed as an exception course, is needs to be a full time course that is at least one year in length but no more than two years, where study is at least 300 hours per academic year.

However, the course that you have indicated is a Bachelor of Education (BEd) courses that is usually three or four years long and where a student will gain an honours degree with QTS. These courses are full time Initial Teacher Training exception courses but are subject to previous study rules as they take longer than two years to complete.

So as you have previously studied 3 years, then your entitlement calculation would be:

New course (in years): 3 years
+
Additional Year (for resits if required): 1 year
-
Previous Years Studied: 3 years
=
(3+1-3=) 1 year remaining entitlement for to study.

So this would allow for year 3 would be fully supported, however, in years 1 and 2 your tuition fees would be blocked, but you may still be eligible for maintenance loan and supplementary grants.

Stephen.
