Edgenie/Uplearn: Are they worth it?

As im approaching my A levels (Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Politics), coincidentally, i got some advertisements of uplearn and saw a few videos on edgenie for economics. So i did some reasearch and the reviews seem to be very positive and have some sort of A*/A guarantee if you watch all the videos or something? (Idk much about that). However they are expensive, I wanted to ask people on here if they have used it and how good it is

I used Uplearn and I semi recommend it. Apparently it is good for econ, but for sciences and maths no. Uplearn is mostly making you watch thousands of videos with topics broken down into 5 to 6 parts or more which are themselves broken down into 10 to 15 videos. You end up watching more videos which over simplify a subject that you probably already covered up in your lesson. It forces you to cram useless Information that may not even be in the specification of your subjects. There's is barely exams practice questions and the questions they give you in the video is primary school level. It feels like it's tailored for home schooled kids. If you are really struggling you can have a try but the problem is, they make you watch a lot of videos often 3 to 10 minutes long which take up most of your time, this means that you have less time to do exam practice( past papers and stuff) and if you don't do any active recall/ practice then you end up forgetting what you just learned. It can be used as a tool but like you said it is an investment and you only get your money back (if you don't get an A) if you complete more than 90% of the course, which is insane because there is so many videos. However this is good for subjects that don't require much practice questions and that are more theory based. Also, If you are on free school meals, Uplearn is free.

I am not sure about Edgenie tho.

Hope this helps.

Have you got any good, cheaper, alternatives that are far better than it?

Exampro is really good to practice questions on but only your teacher can give you the link to thw questions apparently (you probably already know about this). I don't know much about the rest. Revisely is great too, there are AI tools that you can use on it and they give you YouTube videos. Save my exams is also a good one, only thing is you have to pay after reading two or more revision notes, i'd just make disposable emails and create a new account each time but if you're fine with paying a little bit, its not that expensive.

Well, I did Physics A-level so it's probably a bit different, theres more equations and more maths. I feel like i spent too much time on revising the theory and making revision notes. I think you should get a reliable source of notes/informations during your lessons and just don't waste your time making notes. Website like save my exams give you great revision pages. If you have any documents given by your teacher just use that and any extra information you acquire throughout the year can be added to the documents. At this point its all about practice questions. That was for me the number one priority, i wish i did more of that but again i only realized at the end so yeah please just don't make them pretty notes😭Its just a waste of time and you might not even come back to it as often as you think. Next use exampro or PMT and practice the topic questions. And then practice past paper as you get closer to the exams. Its also really important to write the answer clearly, show your thinking and keep them as revision materials you might wanna come back to it later on. The more you do questions the more likely you are to cover a question that is similar to the ones in the real exam. So if you do a lot of them but don't remember how you answered them then its useless.
