Hi Krystal,
Congratulations !!🎉🥳🎊
Welcome to uni life This is the start of a really exciting journey. It might feel overwhelming at first, but remember you don’t need to figure everything out right away. Take time to explore, make new friends, and discover what works best for you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, seek help when needed, and step out of your comfort zone. Balance your studies with fun, and most importantly enjoy the ride. You’ve got this!

me, I’m starting in September though I’m a bit nervous because there is one factor that kind of stopping me from accepting my offer or whatever I have such bad vision and my vision is literally 6/15 even corrected and I don’t know if this is gonna cause an issue for me in my learning so I don’t even know what to do right now, but I should be starting in September

I don't know about a specific university but can say that optometry in general is very vision impaired friendly. There are hints for you for the Snellen chart (at least in the modern electronic charts).
In addition you would be an interesting case to study on and it would be beneficial for all of the sides involved.
If you worry because you would have to study a lot and it could strain your eyes more, there are equipments and techniques that would be useful.

As someone who has vision problems you will understand your patients more and it could help your work. I don't see how bad eyesight would be a real problem in optometry. 6/15 is not such a bad eyesight actually. I must also add that I know a doctor who has 6/60 eyesight and she was a brilliant student all the way, even in medschool and she never let her eyesight stop her. She could not do the surgical part but she became a great kids psychiatrist.
If you really want to study optometry, go for it!

I'm an optometrist.

Hey guys, just an extra question! When would I likely finish Year 1 of Optometry? Is it at the end of June like other courses or in July? I am aware that healthcare courses tend to end later. Thanks!
