UCLan or Surrey vet med 2025

so I have two choices for uni either I go to uclan for 5 year vet med course (not yet accredited, will be in 2028, less well known) or I could do Surrey international foundation (more risk, but accredited now)
Also I’m worried about being able to settle into uclan as a Chinese student.
I still have no idea what to pick…

@Vetmum13 idk if you can shed any light on the international presence at UCLan? Obviously it’s a small cohort anyway but maybe the wider uni?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ☺️

Hi @djast,

Thank you for your message and patience. It's great to hear that you are interested in studying with us. The University of Central Lancashire is home to students from more than 100 countries worldwide. We offer a friendly, welcoming and supportive environment for those travelling from overseas to study with us. I wouldn't worry too much about not settling in as we have many international students and there is also a Chinese society, which you can check out here: Chinese Society - CSSA

We have many more international students talking about their experience with us within the 'International Students' playlist on YouTube like the one attached bellow.

You can also hear from One of the very first vet students in the School of Veterinary Medicine here at the University of Central Lancashire.

Why study with us?

Our new way of teaching uses digital technologies to deliver innovative face-to-face teaching. This means we don’t rely on traditional lectures.

Experience an immersive and practically-focused curriculum with clinical placements from Year 1. You'll be supported with a dedicated student well-being programme.

For more info, visit Study Veterinary Medicine & Surgery, BVMS

If you do have any questions, please let me know 🙂
Best wishes, ^Zac

Sorry only just seen this as I’ve pretty much come off TSR now - UCLan has a big international student intake - I will check roughly how many international students are on the course but I would advise the OP to take a full vet med course at UCLan over Foundation at Surrey

It’s a great vet school - my daughter is very happy there. I saw a separate post you did about the fees- give them a call to check
