A levels

Feeling extremely disappointed with the whole system. My daughter got her A-level results last week . Her grades A* B B . She had conditional offer from two universities . she got her bio remarked and her grade went up .her insurance unis conditional offer was AAB . She now has not only met the required grades but exceeded them . Unfortunately the said uni is not willing to give her the place , saying they don’t have any spaces left . Her review paper clearly mentions that the examiner had misinterpreted the marking scheme. I feel she is being penalised for someone else fault. We spoke to UCAS , AQA exam board .. none of them are willing to intervene saying that it is unis decision . We wrote emails to all higher authorities in the uni dealing with the admissions and have requested them to reconsider their decision. Her head of 6th form is also trying to intervene on our behalf . Has anyone gone through something similar ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I’m sorry to hear this. It all seems very unfair.

I hope you don’t mind me asking a question which is not related directly to your post? We have requested a review of our YP’s A level. May I ask what AQA subject your daughter sought a review of and what the difference was in points to the next grade? My YP is very shocked with his grades and trying to decipher whether we should ask for his 2 other subjects to be reviewed?

Wishing your daughter the best of luck. Perhaps there might be an opportunity to start the course if people drop out although I understand it doesn’t provide her with certainty.

It was her biology paper . She was just 1 mark off A. After review she got 6 more marks and her grade went up .
