Don't do physics unless you have a death wish.

In all honesty, physics everyone will tell you it is unfairly hard. If you are ready for it then please do physics. I loved learning about it and depending on if your teacher is good or not you may enjoy it too. Its a mind blowing subject and its really interesting and combining maths and physics together is a great idea because they have some subject that intertwine a bit like mechanics or capacitors and logarithmic graphs. My teacher used a microwave and chocolate bars to teach use about standing waves and we ended up having a chocolate party. Nah really its great. EXCEPT when you reach the exam period. I don't know what the exam boards have been smoking the past few years but there as been a lot of complains going towards Aqa, their exams were very difficult and in fact its was so hard that they lowered the grade boundaries to a point where if you get around 60% of the paper thats an A*...

Now maths, no comments. It is wat it is, don't get fooled by how easy it is in class.

Sorry for the long paragraph.
Hope that helps 😭

I do maths and I would just say like make sure you can understand most of the basic algebra bits and then you can do most pure maths topics. Also only do it if you get it and enjoy it otherwise its probably hell.

Resources wise physics and maths tutor is helpful, also there is a website called revisegcsemaths (its not only gcse) and its for the wjec exam board but topics are usually similar so it might be helpful once you understand the topics to give you some practice questions that are a bit different. Just using your exam boards website could be helpful too, i am on wjec and they have exam walkthroughs and summary sheets which are soo good for revision so just have a look at the webiste and see what you can find.

Good luck !

First part scared me. Nonetheless I enjoyed learning it in GCSE so hopefully I still do in A-Levels. Hopefully all goes well especially after you said aqa (my board) was really difficult.

Thank you for the help ❤️

Thank you for the help and I’ll probably go over some of the topics now till school starts so I can be ahead.

i totallt agree though - the content in physics is amazing, and i find it super interesting!

the questions are so niche and the marks schemes are so picky so make sure you familiarise yourself with that honesly

agree so so much 😭

physics is my favourite subject, and really rewarding once you get the hang of it - but it takes a lot of work to get to that point. my year started out with about 7 of us taking it, and by the end of year 12 i was the only person left because everyone else dropped it from how hard it is. way more interesting than gcse but also hugely more difficult. i'd recommend doing as many past papers as you can so you can get used to applying your knowledge to unfamiliar questions. also really try to understand the content rather than just memorising it, otherwise it will be very difficult to answer exam questions

maths was easier than physics for sure, but a lot of people in my year found that, while they could do well without revising in gcse, that really isn't the case in a level. so for maths, don't let your work pile up because there is actually quite a lot of content you need to know. but, if you keep on top of it, it's not too bad

best of luck for year 12 <3

What do you mean by picky? Is it like GCSE science or A level biology where you need to memorize key terms word for word?

yeahhh so the mark schemes are incredibly fussy, for both the long ans questions and the maths ones. so for the maths, you have to have every single step down quite specifically to gain full marks, even if your answer is correct. for the long ans/explain type questions, you have to ensure that certain terminology is used to get the marks. all of this can really only be done if you have a clear understanding of all the content.

Which exam board?

I do OCR which is terrible personally but I've heard that AQA is very similar too ☹️

Economics a-level is mostly essay writing so don't pick it if you want a maths subject.
