Do you take notes in class with a notepad, iPad or laptop?

What’s the best way to take notes for sixth form?

I take notes on paper. The only people who i know that takes notes on their laptops are people who have a condition that means they type in exams. If you take essay subjects then type your essays for homework and stuff but i think taking paper notes is still better cos you have more freedom and you can make your notes more memorable for you.

Thank you! For revision outside of class, do you still use a notebook?

Also, for revising outside of class, do you go over your notes and turn them into flashcards or rewrite your notes or something else? Thank you!!

In sixth form, I took notes on my iPad generally. I did biology, chemistry and history.

My iPad meant I could draw diagrams, add images from the internet and also type some notes if I didn't want to write at that point. It also meant, and this was the most useful for me, that I could do lots of practice paper and questions. Ones that were assigned in class, I typically did on my iPad and uploaded them to Google Classroom. This was for biology and chemistry.

For History, with my teacher who teachers by lecturing and then handing you a massive A3 piece of paper to put all that info on, I could type my notes on my iPad and then put into a digital version of the table easily. For my teacher who used lots of images and small bits of writing, I could scan them and annotate. I found this really helpful. An iPad also meant I could access all my notes all the time. However, you need to check whether your teachers will let you use tech (some won't) and whether they have WiFi you can connect to or you can hotspot your data.

However, you do not need to use an iPad to take notes for your A Levels/IB. You can do just as well with a notebook and a school computer in an IT suite.

After class, I would create flashcards on Quizlet and when I had finished a chapter, I would do practice questions (PMT have questions broken down by chapter for science, maths and economics I think). For History, I would consolidate notes, do flashcards and for my synoptic stuff, I would create notes per leader and how it changes over time. Then later on, I would create essay plans. I would do quick 5 mins to see what I would do in an exam. Then I would add detail I remembered, then review my notes and add more detail in another colour (I would do this on my laptop, can be done on a tablet or paper).

I don't tend to write notes outside of class. I do blurt for revision for bio and hand write my homework tho. I make digital flashcards from my notes after class and then rewrite important notes neater on index cards with diagrams for reference when I do blurts. I used to type notes when I was younger for periods of time cos of joint pain and I sometimes still switch to this if it recurs but I find that I don't absorb the information as well when typing (maybe cos for me writing takes effort so I need to think about what I'm writing)
