Which is the best university to consider for Software Engineering degree with a bias in AI ?

Do you wish to learn the maths needed to research new machine learning methods or to be exposed to programming with existing machine learning systems?

Will need great A level Maths and Further Maths, only consider universities that require Further Maths for computer science. Look at universities like Imperial College and Cambridge but check what undergrad options they have. May be better with a maths&comp sci degree rather then comp sci.

Nottingham and Leads may have a few options, their post grads seem to be doing interesting work at a conference I went to 20 years ago (before machines learning replaced all other AI)

Thank you for this wonderful insight. It helps a lot . How competitive are students in this industry ?

My understanding is the Google DeapMind research group started at Cambridge university. (Well worth reading their papers on self learning game play.)

Try looking at (on LinkedIn) companies like Amazon and Ocado to see where their AI researcher did their degrees. Also look at past student internships on the departments websites. It possible the research is in maths departments rather then CS.

Software Engineering degrees are not usually considered as academically rigorous as CS.

If looking at joint Maths and CS degrees then maybe consider Bath and Manchester as well as Oxford, although the latter is insanely competitive.
