Oxbridge potential?

Just got my GCSE results : 9988877 and two distinctions.

I’d like to go into something STEM related, like physics, maths or engineering (hence I chose maths, physics and comp science A level) for uni.

A breakdown of my GCSE’s:

9 - English Literature
9-8 - Combined Science
8 - Maths
8 - Spanish
7 - English Language
7 - Geography
Distinction : Enterprise
Distinction : Creative iMedia

What I’m worried about is the 7s and distinctions, since I know unis like Oxford and Cambridge applicants have mostly 9s and some 8s, so I’m a bit worried. Will I be taken into consideration? (assuming that my personal statement, admission test and everything goes well)

Your GCSE grades are good but I’d advise looking into taking Further Maths A-Level as it’s desirable for physics, maths, and computer science courses at Oxbridge and other top unis

For all of those courses including comp sci, it would be better to drop A level CS for A level FM.

unis generally don't like it if you take 3 with further maths being one (i can't find statement right now but i have vivid memories of reading it many times) and neither do colleges

ohhhh, i could see why tbh. i was thinking of taking fm as a fourth a level but idk if i’ll be able to manage all 4 a levels + planning to do an EPQ (idk if its worth doing an EPQ but i heard many people say its an advantage so yeah) -og poster
Yes, you would be competitive for either Oxford or Cambridge. Make sure you meet any A-level subject requirements - if aiming for a STEM subject at either reasonably you should probably be aiming to do maths plus two other STEM subjects. For engineering, physical sciences, maths and CS at those universities you probably want to aim to take FM as well (either as one of your three subjects, or as a fourth).
