personal statement 2025
I fear that I have asked this question already, but I am afraid of the word count of my personal statement. The first section of mine makes up 20 percent of the total piece, despite recommendations being 30%. Will this be vastly detrimental to my application? I think that it summarises what I need concisely, so I don't feel the need to add more, but I will if necessary.

Hi!
So long as the statement as a whole makes sense and is balanced, it won't make any difference! When I was writing my statement, it was much easier to just focus on it being a good piece of writing rather than adhering to any template or guides. If you add more when you feel it's concise and says what you want to say, it could come across as wordy or irrelevant.

thank you! yes ive made it so that you can tell where a section starts and ends, but it flows nicely as a whole piece. i just wish they hadn't changed the format as i find it quite restrictive, but anyways haha thank you ❤️

Oh, I completely forgot the format has changed! Sorry about that I don't really know anything about the new guide, I really hope it goes well for you!
