Extra activities as a dental student

I am a dental student going into my 2nd year of dentistry, I will be honest in first year i didnt do much at all like no extra extracurricular activities. Now Im thinking if I should do some like joining dental societies or doing extra specific like dental or even general volunteering for if this would impact or help my career in the future, especially when im first released as a practicing dentist. I would love if anyone could advise me if I should be actively on this stuff or just chilling and finding my way through dental school will sufice for me to be set up with a stable career as I leave, Thanks.

Freshers week is coming up soon so you can look for societies there. And if you want career helping experience dental isn't the easiest to find so even something tangentially related like working at a dentist office front desk would help. and seeing you are coming into 2nd year maybe ask if any of your professors want an assistant? that will be easier to find in the summer though. and search for a internship starting spring.
